Andrew Blanchard Andrew was born in the wild swamps of Louisiana, though raised in Waveland, Mississippi. At a young age, he became fascinated with bold, curilinear woodcuts of another Coast native, Walker Anderson. From this early inspiration, he established his love of printmaking. Blanchard earned a BA from University of Southern Mississippi with an emphasis on printmaking and a minor in photography. Shortly thereafter, he traveled to Paris, France to work and study And work with Frederic Possot, a master lithography printer. In 2004, he earned an MFA at the University of Mississippi. Blanchard’s prints have been collected throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. His mixed-media process prints on wood and paper have been included in more than 100 national and international juried exhibitions. He was also selected by Oxford American magazine as one of the “New Superstars of Southern Art.” Come take a stroll through some of this “SouthernGoodShit…” a rowdy presentation of the Gothic American South. In my south, the landscape is an equal-as-ever brotherhood, whether in the urban arena or the open-aired country. And though this culture seems to be in danger due the homogenization that is rampant throuhout our present-day culture, the bold, yet subtle nuances of “SouthernGoodShit” endure. Andrew Blanchard
